Design and Manufacturing of Embedded Systems

In many cases, optical devices are an integral part of some control electronics, detector modules, or motion systems. We design these modules together with the optical and mechanical design phases, ensuring the creation of a compact, efficient, and reliable device. We undertake the delivery of the complete system, fully assembled and tested, whether it involves any electronic interface or custom mechanical design, feel free to contact us.

In-line Absorbance Measurement Module

Our customer ordered the design and small-scale production of an embedded absorbance measurement module equipped with RS422 communication protocol. The module can determine the transmission of liquids in cylindrical cuvettes across six different wavelength ranges using its built-in motorized filter changer. The entire system is controlled by an STM32 microcontroller running our custom firmware. The module consists of two photodetectors, one for transmission and one for reference, and the central STM32-based data processing and control board responsible for AD conversion of the detector signals, control of the filter changer, and communication via the RS422 interface. For diagnostic purposes, it can also be fully controlled via USB.

Key parameters:

  • Wavelength range: 400-700 nm (6 arbitrary bandpass filters)
  • Absorbance range: 0 - 2 Abs
  • Reproducibility: ± 0.005 Abs
  • Dimensions: 100x100x70 mm
  • Weight: 1030 g
Handheld Mini-Spectrometer Based Fluorimeter

Design of the readout electronics and prototype manufacturing for a Hamamatsu mini-spectrometer based on an STM32 microcontroller. The device is suitable for spectral analysis of fluorescent marker dyes with a resolution of 15nm, with selectable UV-A and UV-C excitations. The device connects to a PC application via USB 2.0 interface. The system is fully customizable and can be envisioned as a mobile phone application or a standalone, battery-operated version if required.

Key parameters:

  • Wavelength range: 340-850 nm
  • Spectral resolution: 15 nm
  • Weight: 280 g
  • Dimensions: 65x65x90 mm
  • Excitation: UV-A, UV-C
  • Interface: USB
Photometer for Bioreactor Applications

Custom-designed photometer capable of determining the transmission of liquids drawn into a glass syringe at UV wavelengths. The measurement system is equipped with an external power supply and signal processing electronics, for which we performed the complete optical, electronic, and mechanical design.

Key parameters:

  • Wavelength range: UV
  • Absorbance range: 0 - 3 Abs
  • Reproducibility: ± 0.01 Abs
  • Dimensions: 30x30x70 mm
Embryo Microscope

The Primo Vision microscope is a specialized, compact, airtight digital inverted microscope designed for safe and convenient use in incubators. The microscope unit housing includes a custom, high-precision optical system, a camera, and a fine mechanical focusing and scanning mechanism.

The development included the design of the electronics, mechanics, and optical system. We built several prototypes and successfully transferred the manufacturing rights to Vitrolife Ltd.
